The Governor’s Office seeks a city elected official who is a member of a local Board of Health to serve on the State Board of Health.

About the State Board of Health

Established by the state constitution in 1889, the Washington State Board of Health has served the people of Washington for 133 years, providing leadership and advancing public health practices that protect and improve the public’s health. Time commitment, travel expenses

The Board usually meets monthly with day-long meetings.  Meetings are held in a hybrid environment. Members of the Board are reimbursed for travel expenses in accordance with RCW 43.03.050 and 43.03.060. AWC does not cover travel expenses.

Application process

The AWC Board of Directors will review applications at its next meeting and submit nominees to the Governor’s Office for consideration of appointment. Final appointment of one individual will be made by the Governor.

Those interested in serving must complete both steps below:

  1. Complete the AWC interest form, including your qualifications and attached resume.
  2. Complete the application for gubernatorial appointment. This application is sent directly to the Governor’s Office and will not be part of the materials reviewed by the AWC Board of Directors. Therefore, it is important that your AWC interest form provide details pertinent to this position.
