Local governments are invited to participate in the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) presentation session to the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians on May 23 at the Legends Casino in Toppenish.

The session is designed to inform local governments on how to challenge recently-adopted rules for areas that have been identified as being eligible for subsidized 4G LTE service. Areas in green are identified as having at least a single provider offering wireless services, and are not eligible for subsidies.

Without subsidies, wireless carriers may choose not to expand rural broadband into low density rural areas.

The FCC session is designed to provide information and the tools for submitting a challenge to areas that are incorrectly identified as having wireless coverage. Browse the FCC portal for challenging the process.
