Deputy City Manager Stephanie Lucash of Kenmore was appointed to the board of Association of Washington Cities (AWC) at the association’s annual conference held in Spokane this summer. Lucash was appointed to represent the Washington City/County Management Association.

“I am very excited to join the AWC board of directors,” said Lucash. “I look forward to working as a board on important issues that will improve outcomes for all Washingtonians. There is so much we can accomplish by working together, opening dialogue, and taking action.”

The AWC board of directors is the association’s governing body. The board is comprised of 25 directors, 23 of whom are mayors or city councilmembers from Washington cities or towns, and two non-elected city officials who also serve as the president and past president of the Washington City/County Management Association.

“We are thrilled that Stephanie Lucash is serving on the AWC board of directors,” said Kenmore City Manager Rob Karlinsey. “Stephanie brings a passion for public service combined with an ability to see the big picture, think strategically, and clearly articulate what’s on her mind. She will most certainly add value to the board.”

Kenmore Mayor Nigel Herbig added, “Stephanie is a passionate and driven leader. She is a real asset for Kenmore, and I know she will bring the same energy and commitment to the AWC board of directors.”

Lucash has 30 years of municipal government experience including management and leadership positions at the cities of Kenmore, Seattle, and Covington and King County. In Kenmore, Lucash oversees economic development, public safety, housing and human services, communications, public records, the city clerk, and the American Rescue Plan Act. She also provides expertise and leadership on several regional partnerships.

She is president of the board of directors for the Washington City/County Management Association and serves as chair of the Recruitment and Selection Committee for the Northwest Women’s Leadership Academy. She also serves as vice chair of the board of the Archives, Library, and Legacy Foundation through the Washington Secretary of State’s Office.

“We are excited to have Kenmore Deputy City Manager Stephanie Lucash join our distinguished board,” said AWC CEO Deanna Dawson. “Stephanie is a dynamic, forward-thinking leader, and her depth and breadth of knowledge and experience will make her a valuable addition to the AWC board.”

AWC serves its members through advocacy, education, and services. Founded in 1933, AWC is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan corporation that represents Washington's cities and towns before the state legislature, the state executive branch, and with regulatory agencies. Membership is voluntary. However, AWC consistently maintains 100% participation from Washington’s 281 cities and towns.

AWC also provides training, data and publications, and programs such as the AWC Employee Benefit Trust, AWC Risk Management Service Agency, AWC Workers’ Comp Retro, AWC Drug and Alcohol Consortium, and AWC GIS Consortium.

A complete list of AWC Board of Directors is available on the association’s website.
