USOutlineFlagOverlayThank you, veterans!
Service members and veterans are in our communities, among staff at city hall, and sitting on the dais at council meetings. In advance of Veterans Day, AWC sends a heartfelt thank you as we honor those who serve and have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. As city leaders you know and embrace the importance of public service to keep our communities safe and strong. We salute you.

Here’s just one example of the many contributions made by our city members. Tacoma Councilmember Robert Thoms just returned from a six-month tour in Afghanistan.

data-icon-752018 utility rates available
AWC conducts utility rate survey every two years as a service to our members to aid in rate setting and policy decisions. The 2018 survey is now complete and available in two forms: check out the Utility Rate Summary Tool on the Open Data Portal, then dig into the survey data for more detailed information. Remember, participation in this survey is voluntary and data is self-reported. If you see discrepancies or gaps, please email research@awcnet.org and we’ll update the information. The better and more complete the data, the more valuable this tool will be!

recycle-bugCitywise
Read the recent Citywise section of Cityvision magazine that explores the different ways communities can reduce, reuse, and recycle our waste. The first of three articles explores how new goals and metrics can help cities manage their waste systems. The second examines food waste and treating food like a precious resource. The final article identifies how we can educate our residents about recycling and emphasize certain behaviors – like keeping recyclables clean, dry, empty, and unbagged.

coffee-cupCongrats, coffee, & connect!
Now that the election is over, take this opportunity before legislative session begins on January 14 to reach out to your newly-elected legislators and tell them congratulations! Invite them out to coffee and share ideas about how you can work together on issues that matter to your shared constituents. Connect with them and tell them about our 2019 city legislative priorities and fact sheets. Show them around city hall, share your challenges, and ask how you can connect with them during session.
