Nominations and elections
Nominations must be made by a mayor or chief executive of an RMSA member jurisdiction. Nominated candidates must complete a short application and submit a headshot and bio to RMSA staff. Documentation is due by August 31. Diverse perspectives on the Committee are encouraged and generally includes a combination of clerks, treasurers, HR directors, police chiefs, public works directors, and city administrators.
Frequency of Operating Committee meetings
RMSA Operating Committee meets three to four meetings a year, generally around four to six hours long in the SeaTac area – your travel expenses are reimbursed. Committee members serve two-year terms
Expenses
RMSA pays all expenses associated with travel to and from meetings, including transportation, meals, and lodging. Time spent away from work to attend meetings is not reimbursed.
Meeting content
Operating Committee members meet with RMSA staff and consultants to hear updates on financials, membership, claims, risk management and more. Members have the opportunity to share feedback on various topics including coverage, policies, rates, and other items important to municipalities. Committee feedback and recommendations are then forwarded to the RMSA Board of Directors for final approval.
Why join the Operating Committee?
RMSA is a member-driven, member-governed program, so serving on the RMSA Operating Committee is your opportunity to connect with your peers, share your municipalities voice and be a part of the Pool’s decision-making process. We’d love to hear from you!
