In early May, Joint Legislative Audit and Review Committee (JLARC) announced the opening of the 2021 public records request reporting system.
Agencies that spent over $100,000 in fiscal year 2021 on staff and legal costs associated with maintaining public records and responding to records requests are required to submit a report to JLARC. The deadline for reporting 2021 data has been extended to Wednesday, August 31.
JLARC staff requests that agencies that did not meet the expenditure threshold log in and voluntarily report on these metrics or indicate that the agency did not meet the threshold for required reporting.
If you have questions or concerns about registering an account or reporting data, please feel free to review the agency guidance document, revisions to the agency guidance document, or the FAQ document. Additional questions may be directed to JLARCPublicRecStudy@leg.wa.gov.
