The federal government has invested in clean water.
Under the recently signed Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act (dubbed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law), a total of $50 billion was provided to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to strengthen the nation’s drinking water and wastewater
systems. This is the single largest investment in clean water that the federal government has ever made. A significant portion of water infrastructure dollars will flow through the Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds (SRFs), which
represent a partnership between the EPA, states, tribes, territories, and local communities.
A new implementation memorandum from the EPA provides information and guidelines on how the agency will administer the SRF capitalization
grants appropriated to states under the law. The memo is expected to be applicable to all five years of BIL appropriations.
On March 16, the EPA will host a national webinar to discuss the implementation of this new memo. Register here to attend. Make sure
to check out the SRF implementation memo fact sheet.
