JLARC extends deadline for submitting public records request reports

Contact: Candice Bock, Jacob Ewing

Approximately 70 Washington cities have not yet submitted their public records request reports to the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Committee (JLARC). Over the next week, AWC will contact each of these cities directly to remind them to submit their reports.

Agencies that spend over $100,000 in staff and legal costs associated with maintaining public records and responding to records requests are required to file an annual metrics report with JLARC. Additionally, JLARC staff ask that agencies that do not meet the threshold voluntarily report on the metrics or indicate that the agency did not meet the threshold for required reporting.

The JLARC Public Records Reporting System is currently active. If you have questions or concerns about registering an account or reporting data, please feel free to review the agency guidance document, revisions to the agency guidance document, or the FAQ document. Additional questions may be directed to JLARCPublicRecStudy@leg.wa.gov.

The deadline for reporting 2020 data is Wednesday, July 21, 2021.
