Growth Management Act bills continue to move

Contact: Carl Schroeder, Shannon McClelland

Two bills that expand the scope of local planning under the Growth Management Act (GMA) have advanced from the second round of policy committee review and have been scheduled for hearings in the Senate Ways & Means Committee. Both GMA bills – HB 1099, dealing with integrating climate change, and HB 1117, addressing salmon recovery – remain in forms that AWC supports.

A third bill, HB 1241, provides an extension on the comprehensive plan update cycle from eight years to ten years with a limited five-year review. This proposal has also moved from policy committee to Ways & Means in a form that AWC supports.
