Certificate of Municipal Leadership
AWC’s Certificate of Municipal Leadership (CML) program recognizes mayors and councilmembers for accomplishing training in four core areas. In order to earn the certificate, municipal leaders must meet requirements in the following competency areas, and achieve a total of 30 credits:
- C = Community planning and development
- D = Diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
- E = Effective local leadership
- P = Public sector resource management
- R = Roles, responsibilities, and legal requirements
Upon completion of AWC’s Member Expo, elected officials automatically receive 7 CML credits in the roles, responsibilities, and legal requirements competency area.
