Recommended legislative priorities advance to AWC Board
The Legislative Priorities Committee met on August 24 to consider and debate possible issues for inclusion as city legislative priorities for 2019. The members of the committee had a robust discussion and vote that resulted in five recommendations to the AWC Board of Directors. The agency will choose 12 winners to be showcased at the Innovations and Partnerships in Transportation Conference on December 3 in Tacoma. Survey on rural local government purchasing
The Department of Commerce is seeking to strengthen rural businesses. To that end, they have developed a survey to solicit information from city staff who have a working knowledge of city contracts awarded to private businesses in recent years. Some of the questions are data intensive, and the survey is likely to take a minimum of 30 minutes to complete. The survey will close on September 14. For questions, contact Kyle Wiese.

Smart suburbs are the new smart cities
