CARES-act-CV-art-0729202020 Census to end one month early
On August 3, the U.S. Census Bureau Director announced that all counting efforts will end on September 30 – one month earlier than originally scheduled. With roughly three out of 10 households yet to be counted in Washington, outreach over the next two months will be critical to ensure a complete count of your community. The Census Bureau released additional outreach resources on their website including new videos. Visit the 2020 Census Response Rates Dashboard to view your community’s real-time response rate.

CARES-act-CV-art-072920COVID-19 and workers’ comp
Our first responders are on the front lines interacting with other employees. Labor & Industries recently changed how COVID-19 claims are processed. The change covers compensation benefits paid to employees exposed to a COVID-positive first responder. Under workers’ comp, first responders who have contracted the virus and tested positive will continue to receive medical treatment and time loss pay for their quarantine period. Learn more about what has changed and how to file a claim.

2019 public records reporting deadline September 1
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the Joint Legislative Audit & Review Committee (JLARC) extended the deadline for reporting 2019 public records metrics to September 1, 2020. Only cities that spent over $100,000 during 2019 in staff and legal costs associated with maintaining public records and responding to public records requests must submit data to JLARC. Cities and towns that spent less than $100,000 are asked to voluntarily submit key metrics. The reporting system and additional guidance documents are available on the JLARC website.
