All cities must report on public records to JLARC by July 1
Each local government with at least $100,000 in staff and legal costs associated with fulfilling public records requests in the preceding fiscal year is required to report various public records metrics. Whether they meet the threshold or not, local governments must report to the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Committee (JLARC). If your city has not yet reported data for 2017, please ensure that a report is submitted by July. More
2018 NLC State of the Cities report examines city issues
For the fifth year, the National League of Cities released the State of the Cities report, which examines state of the city speeches in 160 cities around the country. As with prior years, economic development, infrastructure, and budgets rise to the top; however, broadband access and the opioid epidemic make waves this year. More
TIB funding program workshops

The Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) approved $107 million for its next call for projects. Grant applications are due August 17 with awards announcements in November. Attend a funding workshop scheduled throughout the state in June to receive information about various funding programs, scoring criteria, and the application process. Emergency loans
The Emergency Construction Loan Program focuses on the activities that repair, replace, and/or reconstruct a facility that will restore essential services. Applications are accepted continuously until loan funds are expended.
Pre-construction loans
Pre-construction activities include, but are not limited to, design engineering, bid-document preparation, environmental studies, right-of-way acquisition, value planning, permits, cultural and historic resources, and public notification. Deadline is July 11. More
2018 Legislative candidate questionnaire responses
AWC asked all candidates who filed to run for state legislative office to answer five questions about issues that are important to cities. The questionnaire helps city officials understand legislative candidate perspectives on city issues. The results are rolling in. See who has responded to the questionnaire so far.
