2019 Nominating Committee report
The AWC Board Nominating Committee met on April 12 to review application materials submitted by potential candidates for the open officer and director positions on the AWC Board of Directors. Read the committee’s second report to see who is running for the AWC Board. The committee will reconvene in Spokane on Tuesday, June 25 to interview the candidates.

Amendments made on the Senate floor contain our advocated-for provisions to retain local decision-making authority, provide the necessary flexibility to address cities’ unique housing challenges, and include resources to assist with the cost of implementation. Lodging Tax Report deadline
The deadline for mandatory reporting of 2018 lodging tax expenditure data is May 15, 2019. Cities and counties that collect lodging tax are required to report annual expenditures to the Joint Legislative Audit & Review Committee’s (JLARC) website. If your city has not yet completed its report, please submit the data by the May 15 deadline.

Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Site-Based Program
The Bureau of Justice Assistance issued a grants notice for a Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Site-Based Program to support first responders and provide for the needs of crime victims; support diversion and alternatives to incarceration programs for non-violent individuals who come in contact with the justice system as a result of the abuse of illicit and prescription opioids; implement and enhance prescription drug monitoring programs; promote cross-system planning and coordination of service delivery; and reduce the incidence of fatal overdoses associated with opioid use. Applications are due June 5.
Body-Worn Camera Program and Implementation The Bureau of Justice Assistance issued a grants notice for implementation of body-worn camera (BWC) programs in law enforcement agencies across the country. Components of the grant program include policy development, collaboration with other criminal justice agencies and community stakeholders, and adherence to evolving technological, training, and legal standards. Applications are due June 5. |
