The State Auditor’s Office is working closely with legislators to extend the annual financial reporting deadline.

The State Auditor’s Office is working closely with legislators to extend the annual financial reporting deadline. The filing deadline, currently set for May 30, can be extended by Gov. Inslee through an emergency declaration with the consent of legislative leadership.

Auditor McCarthy is requesting for a full sixty-day extension to avoid an insurmountable hardship for local governments. Many city employees are working from home and have limited access to offices and records. Even if city staff can return to their offices prior to May 30, they will not be able to ‘catch up’ with the time away quickly enough to comply with the end of May deadline.

AWC is closely monitoring the situation and will provide more information as it becomes available.
