Larry Springer (D–Kirkland) by request of the Department of Revenue (DOR), increases the handling fee on each business license application and each renewal application filing.

HB 2840, sponsored by Rep. Larry Springer (D–Kirkland) by request of the Department of Revenue (DOR), increases the handling fee on each business license application and each renewal application filing.

Handling fees are currently $19 for each business license application; however, HB 2840 would increase the fee to $85 per application, with a $10 fee for renewal filing. These fees are paid by the business that is making the license application.

DOR is requesting the increase to offset costs for operating the licensing program. For cities that use the BLS system, businesses that seek licenses would be subject to the fees.

Dates to remember

HB 2840 is scheduled for public hearing in the House Finance Committee on Thursday, February 6 at 1:30 pm. It is scheduled for a committee vote at 1:30 pm on Friday, February 7.
