The Association of Washington Cities (AWC) Employee Benefit Trust and the AWC Risk Management Service Agency (RMSA) have been recognized by the Association of Governmental Risk Pools (AGRiP) at the 2025 AGRiP Governance Conference.

AGRiP Recognition is based on a rigorous assessment of all aspects of program operations against industry best practices. Meeting AGRiP’s comprehensive standards provides assurance that the programs are operating at the highest levels of effectiveness.

“AGRiP recognition is a significant achievement and an example of how AWC is living up to our organizational vision of being the national leader in programs, services, and policy impact for our members,” said AWC CEO Deanna Dawson. “It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of the AWC Employee Benefit Trust and RMSA teams, who consistently provide top-tier services to our members.”

Founded in 1970, the AWC Employee Benefit Trust is Washington's premier local government benefit pool for cities, towns, and other local governments. The Trust serves 282 members in Washington state by offering high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective health benefit and wellness programs.

The AWC Risk Management Service Agency is a member-owned risk pool founded in 1989 that provides property and liability coverage and comprehensive risk management services to 104 Washington cities, towns, and special purpose districts.

“We strive every day to meet or exceed the highest industry standards,” said AWC Member Pooling Programs Director Carol Wilmes. “It is an honor to be recognized for the hard work of our team and the commitment to excellence from our board leadership.”

AWC’s mission is to build connections between Washington state’s diverse cities and towns, while providing their members with the support needed to thrive through delivery of data-driven education, nationally recognized pooling programs, and nonpartisan advocacy. Membership is voluntary; however, AWC consistently maintains 100% participation from Washington’s 281 cities and towns.
