As previously announced in CityVoice, Peter B. King is retiring after a 45-year career in association management. Peter’s last day with AWC is October 1.
“On behalf of Washington’s cities and towns, I want to wish Peter the very best in his well-deserved retirement,” said AWC President Kent Keel, Councilmember, University Place. “Under Peter’s leadership and the direction
of the AWC Board of Directors, AWC is on a great path.”
The AWC Board of Directors named Alicia Seegers Martinelli as AWC’s Interim CEO at their most recent meeting. Alicia has held various roles at AWC since 2006, most recently serving as AWC’s Deputy CEO/Chief Operating Officer. Her responsibilities
as Interim CEO will begin on Friday, coinciding with Peter’s retirement.
“The AWC Board has full confidence in Alicia and the tremendous AWC staff to lead the association through this interim period,” said President Keel.
President Keel also named the nine-member CEO Search Committee, which will kick-off their efforts this fall. Plans are to retain an executive recruiting firm and launch a nationwide search.
The new CEO is expected to be in place by spring 2022.
