Apply to serve on AWC’s Equity Workgroup

Contact: Alicia Seegers Martinelli

AWC is recruiting city elected officials to serve on an ad hoc Equity Workgroup to review access to AWC programs and services and recommend ways AWC can increase equity for its members. This workgroup will evaluate recruitment for AWC board and committees, access to programs and services, as well as ways AWC can support cities in towns in equity and inclusion efforts.

This ad hoc workgroup was created by the AWC Board of Directors on September 27, 2019 in order to support AWC’s strategic plan and the key strategy to review programs and initiatives to ensure equitable access by members. This ad hoc workgroup is tasked with bringing recommendations to the AWC Board of Directors at its June 23, 2020 meeting.

Time commitment

The temporary workgroup is expected to meet three times throughout the first half of 2020. One meeting will take place in person and two will be by web conference. AWC reimburses committee members for travel expenses incurred for attending meetings.

Application process

If you are an elected official interested in serving on this committee, complete the AWC Committee Interest Form.

The workgroup will consist of seven to 11 elected officials. Appointments will be made by the AWC President.
