Apply to serve on the Forensic Investigations Council

The Governor’s Office seeks a city elected official to serve on the Forensic Investigations Council. Per statute, AWC will nominate two people for consideration. Final appointment is made by the Governor.

The Forensic Investigations Council oversees the state’s forensic laboratory services and, in consultation with Washington State Patrol, establishes policies. The council is also responsible for the oversight of state forensic pathology programs authorized by the Legislature.

Application process

AWC’s Board of Directors will review materials at its December meeting and submit nominees to the Governor’s Office. Those interested in serving on the council must complete both steps below:

  1. Prepare a letter of interest and a resume addressed to AWC President Ed Stern and send it c/o Alicia Seegers Martinelli to aliciam@awcnet.org or to 1076 Franklin St. SE, Olympia, WA 98501.
  2. Complete the application for gubernatorial appointment. This application is sent directly to the Governor’s Office and it will not be part of the materials reviewed by the AWC Board of Directors. Therefore, it is important your letter of interest and resume provide details pertinent to this position.
