Update on Ecology’s water resource policies

Contact: Carl Schroeder, Shannon McClelland

In February 2019, the Department of Ecology’s Water Resources Program proposed changes to Policies 1060—Rescission and Relinquishment of Water Rights and 1200—Evaluation of Changes or Transfers to Water Rights.

Ecology heard from many stakeholders who had concerns with the draft policy changes. In response, Ecology is proposing a newly revised version of Policy 1060. The agency is no longer proposing changes to Policy 1200.

  • View the newly proposed revision of POL 1060. See the 1991 version here.
  • Ecology would like your feedback on the proposed policy. Please send comments to Carrie Sessions by July 26 at 5 pm at carrie.sessions@ecy.wa.gov or 360-407-6094.

We would appreciate a copy of any comments you provide to Ecology on these documents. Please send the comments to shannonm@awcnet.org.

A list of all water rights policies and procedures, and the dates of revision, can be found on Ecology's website.
