Low Impact Development (LID)

Eastern Washington

What’s required, when

The requirements of the current Eastern Washington Phase II permit must be fully implemented by December 31, 2017. By this date, jurisdictions in Eastern Washington must allow LID as a viable stormwater management technique, and must identify local feasibility criteria for infiltrating runoff.

Overall, the implementation of LID in Eastern Washington is an incremental approach with a strong focus on identifying what will work in local conditions in different areas of Eastern Washington. The Washington State Department of Ecology indicates they will continue to work with jurisdictions and industry members to evaluate the results through 2019 before considering expanding to more prescriptive requirements.
